Its been a fair few days since we left, so thought it was about time I started writing my blog....so here goes!!
We left London Heathrow at 5pm English time, and after an 8 hour flight on British airways - which by the way is the future...free drinks of anythin, awesome selection of movies, music, etc!! - we arrived at Washington around 8pm local time. Due to the strict immigration laws enforced in America thesedays, we had a ratha long wait once inside the airport - but it was made gud by watching the airport police being totally over-authoritative!!
We decided to jus get a taxi to our hostel, as is was a rite trek from the airport an it was dark, so we thought we coulda easily got lost....it was a gud idea in the end, as the hostel was at least 30 mins away, over freeways and down back streets...i dont think we woulda found it on a bus!!
The hostel was reali nice - we stayed in a 6-bed mixed dorm, which ended up just beeing us boys on the first nite, and a couple of japenese on the second. The place was reali clean, nice lounge area, loadsa computers, an the location was awesome...about five minutes walk from the whitehouse, washington and lincoln memorials, etc!!
Once settled into the hostel, we decided to go find some food - china town was just down the road, but most places were shut, so we carried on walkin and ended up a mall-type place, wit cinema, bowling, etc, and a bar grill restaurant. The music was bangin out, and it was still pretty busy, so we headed on in. After some food an four of the strongest vody's, it was 1.30, an the nite coulda turned pretty messy, an wit a full day of site-seein planned by johnston in the mornin, we called it a nite!!
Woke up Monday about 8am to awesome weather an headed for the tourist spots of Washington. We got to the whitehouse first, and the police were shutting off all the surrounding roads - at the time we didnt kno why - but five minutes later, two army helicopters flew over and into the grounds...apparently is was George Bush!! Later we saw the Lincoln and Washington memorials, and visited the Holocaust museum.
That nite we headed to watch the Washington Capitals Ice Hockey. The stadium and atmosphere was awesome, an the game was one of the best!! Within 20 mins there had been 7 goals and two fights!! It ended wit the capitals winning 10-2 and the place was buzzin!! Ill upload the pics on here soon, there on facebook if anywants a snoop!!
That was pretty much Washington, ill update New York next time as my time is running out!!
Hope everyone is well, keep in touch!!
Love u all
