Last week I traveled to Nelson where I was working for a crazy German lady for a week. I'll share the details of her craziness in person! Anyway, after a week of weeding, bundling wood, mulching, and other activities I started my 2 day walk on the Abel Tasman Coastal Track, which is one of New Zealand's Great Walks (there are like 10 walks deemed good enough to be NZ's Great Walks). I started the track alone but ended up walking with two nice Canadians. I stayed the night at a hut and met lots of nice young travelers. I saw a small seal colony on the first day and continually had nice views of beautiful bays and beaches to accompany me while walking. rnrnAfter that I decided to visit a friend in a small mountain town called Takaka which is really small and is located in an area called Golden Bay, NZ's sunniest area. I really enjoyed biking around Takaka and its slow paced lifestyle. I was in Takaka for the national holiday called Anzac Day which stands for Australia New Zealand Army Core. It's a day to remember fallen soldiers and literally everything was closed in Takaka! Lots of Jenga and bike riding occupied my day! Takaka is my kind of town. I didn't need a key to get into my hostel and everyone knows everyone else. This part of NZ is definitely up my alley and I could picture myself living in this region one day perhaps! There are mountains, ocean, and sunny weather...nice combo!rnrnTomorrow I start my adventure on the west coast and as I head further south in the south island I will have colder weather to deal with! I'm looking forward to the west coast. Hope everyone is doing great.
