Hello everybody
Firstly apologies for the lack of updates in the last few days - lack of computer access. I'll run down our last 10 days or so. I think the last update came from Sydney before we did the bridge climb so here goes....
Not sure if we had mentioned it before but we went to the Sydney Mardi Gras on the Saturday night which was an experience. Very... colouful and happy.
The Bridge climb was awesome!!! Not as steep as either of us thought. Had a good group of people with us - mostly Brits although there were a couple of Israeli's and a French guy!!! Would fully recommend it to anyone coming out here.
Our next stop was the Blue Mountains. Spent a good day up there doing all the tourist stuff. A lot of rocks to take in - the three sisters was pretty cool and the skyrail gave us a good view of one of the water falls. Wouldn't need more than a day though.
We then took another day by the beach in Manly - bit or shopping too - before leaving Cheryl and Andre's and heading for Canberra. DO NOT SPEND ANYTIME IN CANBERRA. Not a lot there and we did most of the good bits in an afternoon. Felt like a really unneeded city with no soul so we headed off again towards Melbourne.
After an overnight stop in Bairnsdale we reached Phillip Island and saw the Fairy Penguins in the evening which were pretty cool - there was a cool fat one which we weren't sure if he was going to make it up the beach!!! We then moved on to the Yarra Valley where we stayed for a few nights with some friends of Mum and Dads, Norm and Denise. They run a bed and breakfast up near Healesville and the place has some excellent views. They kindly showed us the local area and we tried a few more wines - was better this time as I didn't have to drive!!!
Today we came into Melbourne and said goodbye to our van - 5000 k's to me 0 to Penfold!!! Not even a reverse! I think she'll do a fair bit in NZ. We checked into our hostel and set off for Albert Park to see day 1 of the grand prix. Some pretty cool stuff. Best bit was the staggered race between a BMW 3 series, a BMW race car and the Sauber BMW F1 car. We then took a look round St Kilda before having some dinner in the Docklands area.
And that brings you pretty much up to date. Sorry if your bored by now but a journal is a journal and just think about me who has to write this stuff twice in my personal journal!!!!
