In our second cave visit (Combarelles discovered by a farmer in 1901) we saw a few of the 800 engravings and other drawings featuring horses, bison, aurochs, lions, reindeer and other animals. We also saw simplistic representations of humans which are difficult to interpret. Most of the paint has disappeared, but it's still amazing to fathom a person's motivation to crawl in small dark tunnels to draw only specific images (never any landscapes or the environment).
