Too Cold For Penguins
Hi Guys!
We arrived in Arequipa from Cusco on Tuesday, and decided to launch straight into the next tour. So yesterday we arrived at the Colca Canyon. We chose the apparently less popular option for the tour which involved trekking from Yanque to visit local ruins, and then on to the hot springs in Yanque. The trek was fantastic, and not too strenuous following our Inca Trail escapades. We crossed the Colca River and trekked up the valley, passing local farmers and livestock on their return to the village. We stopped at a really friendly hostel, and as there were only four of us there it was great.
The next morning we had an early start to get to Cruz del Condor to see the condors. It was beautiful to see them gliding around on the thermals. Unfortunately the inevitable happened with our pictures, and they came out as specks. If you have time, take a look at the photos, there's a prize for the first person to spot a condor. After Cruz del Condor we headed back to Arequipa via a few villages.
We're off to Puno in the morning, on Lake Titicaca. Look out for our next installment from there!
Love Ben and Hels xxxx
