We decided to take the Iconic Route 66 as far as we could on our trip to Flagstaff. It was a great decision as we would have missed some amazing country side taking the Highway. Some parts of Route 66 still go along the Interstate where they haven't been able to keep the original road. On the California side the road is bad in some parts and the signage is pretty poor, but when you cross into Arizon that all changes. They have great pride in Route 66. There are signs every where and the road is well maintained.
The scenery is just breath taking and changes very quickly.
It was a great decision, and although we had to join the interstate to complete our journey to Flagstaff as it was getting dark and the road is very narrow and windy it was a great experience.
We have decided to continue on Route 66 on our way to Las Vegas.
