23-25 April
We only stayed in Koh Lanta for a short time, this is one of the most chilled Islands in Thailand! We stayed in Blancos which was a really lovely hostel in the middle of Koh Lanta on long beach! The hostel picked us up from the ferry point for free which was very handy and when we arrived all the staff were ever so friendly! We were shown to our 8 bed dorm and we had some really lovely people in there too! The dorms were nice and there was a lot of Hammocks outside to chill on.
We spent half a day at the beach which was only a 5 minute walk from the hostel, it was a lovely remote beach which was not that busy. The sand was lovely but the sea was really rough! That night it thunder stormed and our bunk beds started to shake!!
The next day after Mel and Kerrie had there massages at the hostel, we went to the Koh Lanta Animal Welfare Centre. This was such an amazing project that a lady had started up. We were welcomed in the cat area, where there was so many cute cats walking around. We then went onto the dog area, it was all so well kept and was all run by volunteers! They are trying to cut down the amount of stray animals on the island by sterilising any animals that come to the centre. Many of the dogs have been rehomed to people around the world but they struggle more with the cats. At the end of the tour, we all took a dog on a walk, it was a lovely way to get volunteers to help out! My dog was called Lanta, so so sweet.
Koh Lanta was not the easiest place to get food. There was a 7eleven nearby and a few roadside restaurants. Luckily the hostel hosts bbq nights now and again and this was delicious. You paid a fixed fee and it was all you can eat!
Koh Lanta was lovely and chilled, but you really do need good weather if you want to spend a while here! Maybe next time I go, I will rent a scooter to explore the island more!
