We were already to go at 8.30 this morning to visit the Launceston Club rooms of the Tasmanian Car Club. The boys were organised to look at car parts that were for sale, and the girls went to the rooms for a cuppa and a look at the amazing view over the city. We met up with a couple of members who we had met in Strahan and they looked after us well while we were there. Not too many dollars were parted with, and then we headed off to do our own thing going North "down" the West Tamar valley. It is downhill to the ocean, but "up" on the map.
Some went to the Beaconsfield Mine and Heritage Centre which is the site of the tragic events of 2006 with the terrible disaster that was famous right across the world. Others went to the Tamar Island Wetlands, and visted some of the wineries and farm gate produce stalls.
Then across the Batman Bridge to the East Tamar Valley.
Up to George Town and Beauty Point. There were some very pretty little towns right on the water. Hillwood was one little place where there is a large berry farm with a farm gate shop.
Continuing on into Launceston to visit the National Automobile Museum of Tasmania, then back to accommodation for a do your own thing evening.
The mornings are very cold, but the days are absolutely amazing, and the view from our villas onto the golf course are great for afternoon drinks!
