So we returned back to Sydney after a great time in
Alice Springs and headed back to the YHA where we had
stayed last time. We didnt arrive until the late
afternoon and so headed straight up to the room. We
were sharing n a four bed dorm and fund that we had a
German couple in the same room who seemed ok. That
was unti, they tried to come out with us that night
and then said we would talk about what we were doing
tomorrow in the morning- all very strange! We ended
up having an early night and then getting up early and
doing a bit of a runner in the morning! We needed to
get out anyway so we could get a new camera because
Marias had broken on us before Alice Springs. WE
ended up getting the newer version of our old one
which meant we could keep the old battery and charger
and got a fat discount when we traded in the old
camera as well! the camera is really good- does cool
little videos as well as features like time lapse.
anyway enouhgh of the techie stuff and back to Sydney.
We had decided to visit Manly Beach and so took the
ferry over there which took about 30 mins. It was the
weekend so it was busy but is was well worth it. The
beach itself was really nice but Manly just seemed
reall cool. It had loads of little shops and
restaurants and was probably our favourite place in
Sydney. The only downside was when Tom went to into a
toilet and a woman shouted "NO!!", she was doing God
knows what on the other side! Life can be scary!!!
Anyway we chilled on the beach which had really good
waves crashing donw on you and indulged in a spot of
sunbathing. We then headed back to the city centre-
taking the opportunity to take plenty of photos on the
way. We then met up with Ruth who was havng a few
drinks in town. We ended up staying for quite a while
longer than expected in an Irish bar and had a really
good time. We then decided to treat ourselves to a
Wagamamas- we had to run to get there before it closed
but it was worth it! Then we crashed out for the
night after all the Irish cider we'd drunk!
Next morning we were checking out as we wanted to stay
on Coogee Beach for a night. We got there about lunch
time and went for a walk. Coogee was really good-
probably the place with the most nice restaurants i
have ever seen. i think you could have eaten at a
different place every day for months! Unfortunately
we were on a budget so we decided to have a picnic on
the beach. we went and bought loads of nice little
bites. Tne minutes later we saw some grey clouds in
the distance. Before long there was a huge storm
brewing and the rain started. We chanced it and
headed down to the beach but the rain came and didnt
stop. Still it was amazing watching the lightning out
at sea because it lit up the sky in the most amazing
way. You could see all the individual bolts and lit
the sky in all different shades- very cool! The
hostel was run by a real mardi cow though, so we were
glad we were only staying for a night in some ways!
Next day we headed back to town to put our bags in
lockers so we could go to Bondi before the overnight
bus to Melbourne. We had heard loads of things about
Bondi being amzing so i think we were a little
disappointed when we arrived. It seemed quite run
down and there weren't many beautiful people about
(apart from me!- Tom :)). But the beach was really
nice and there were loads of surfers showing off there
skills so its was still worth the effort. All too
soon though our Sydney stop off was over and we
heading down the coast to Melbourne on the night bus.
Sydney is an amazing city- really lively and the
harbour is a great place to visit- with the opera
house and the harbour bridge in the back ground its a
great place to watch the world go by. Miss it already!!
