Another really nice breakfast in the courtyard of the hostel we headed further west to Corvin's Castle. Which we had seen a picture of on google and wanted to see it. As it is not in Transylvania it doesn't really get advertised. It felt like forever to get there. Our trusted SatNav must been out of date. We started to question it when it directed us down a road for about 30 minutes told us to turn around in a farmer's field and head back the way we came. So we decided to be bold and make our way there alone. The SatNav would go crazy asking us to join all these random roads. We figured out that the motorway we were on has only just been built so the SatNav could not recognize our location. Several disagreements later. The SatNav was back on track when we got into the local town. A scrape of the car as we pulled up. We were here!!.
We walked up the hill and the view of Corvin's castle came into view and it was well worth the drive. It is a gorgeous castle with a large moat and bridge. It looked like something from a movie. There were secret stair cases, grand halls with long tables accompanied by head chairs and flags representing different families and regions. By far this was the most fairtale like castle in the region.
We brought some local sweet bread that is molded into a tube shape cooked over a flame and covered in cinnamon. I was hesitant to try this traditional food at first as I was not really interested in plain-ish bread. We I got my first bite I was addicted. It was very similar to doughnuts. Soooo good. We jumped in the extremely hot car and headed to your next destination Sighisoara. The birth place of Dracula. Knowing the SatNav wouldn't recognize the motorway again we made our own way until we turned off the motorway. Within a few hours we were in Sighisoara. Similar to Sibiu this town again was really beautiful, cobbled streets, open squares, a grand church, colourful buildings with beautiful architecture. It really did have a lot of character, like a fairy tale town from the 16th century.
With time left in the day we decided to head back down to Brasov and stay in the hostel we stayed in a couple nights previous. This way we would have an easier drive tomorrow. It only took just over an hour to get there. We knew the routine so only took a minute to check into the hostel, park the car and head out for dinner. We ended up grabbing a snack and watching a mini concert that was being held in the main square. After a long day of driving we headed to bed.
