Our last full day on the European adventure. It was great to finish on a high.
Got up early (not 'work' early you understand) so as to beat the coaches that were going to be joining us at the Chateau de Chenoncaeu. This is one of Lonely Planets top 10 to see in France. A short cycle got us there for 9am. Stunning looking palace; opulent interiors, large perfect formal gardens, impressive vegetable/flower gardens, small maze and donkey paddock (not they could be bothered to come and say hello). The whole thing was presented in a formal style with serious sounding audio guide. All topped off with blue sky's and coffee in the cafe.
Spent the first half of the afternoon apologising to the kind people of Campervantastic about the losses and breakages. Specifically we tried to to get a replacement rear hazard board for the bikes. We're going to have to take night classes in knots! (It'll be on a verge somewhere).
We had time to hire two canoes to paddle up to the castle and pass beneath its arches, then onto see our river side campsite. Great trip and we weren't too competitive with the boys.
We had steak hache and honey cake for supper. We then joined other campers for a musical evening with a French duo doing English rock and pop covers (loved the accents). Alison and I enjoyed the nostalgia, the boys were moderately entertained and were really glad we didn't start dancing!!
Last night not in a bed!
