The Jadrolinije ferry berthed at Zadar at about 1.30 which meant we had time to wander around this beautiful port town. There are Roman ruins everywhere and it's interesting exploring the winding streets of the old town. It had been really handy having the Lonely Planet as a reference book, especially finding places to eat!
We were on a mission today to find "Foša " which is meant to be the best fish restaurant in Zadar. I kid you not, it certainly was! We have never had food like it. The service was impeccable and the food was, simply, an experience...
It deserves an entry all on its own! First, a variety of olive oils and bread, followed by bruschetta. Now that I know how large the servings are here in Croatia, I opted for two entrees, fish soup which was a taste explosion and then Roman gnocchi with škampi in a truffle sauce..... OMG..... Geoff had the most delicious gratinated fish and potatoes flavoured with saffron strands. I not hesitate to recommend Foša, it was the best fish meal ever..... our waiter informed us that they are number two on the whole Adriatic coast...... We certainly will never forget it.
We stayed in Trogir with Ira and Boris from last year and it was lovely to see them again. The beauty about revisiting a place is that we know our way around, we have seen the attractions before and we can choose our favourites. The last couple of days have been very relaxing...
Our friend Uta, is arriving today from Germany! We are picking her up at Split airport and then spending a couple of days on a nearby island called Šolta. I wonder what is in store for us there? .?
