So today we left the prismo hotel in Cuzco around 8am and started heading for our Amazon lodge with g adventures.
We caught our flight no problem and were the transported by safari bus with luggage on the roof to g adventures office where we re packed a duffle and left our large luggage. From there with our lightened load we got back on the safari bus and went to the river boat launch. It was probably 30 km away and tookabout an hour to reach it. Along the way we saw papaya trees and weaver bird nests amongst other things.
We then hopped on the river boat. It was two seats wide and an aisle in the middle. We were given a packed lunch of rice French fries, fried chicken and vegetables. And a couple of those awesome little finger bananas.
Along the way Leo our new guide, pointed out and we stopped the boat to look and capaberras (the largest rodents in the world, ) monkeys, caimans, monkeys, macas, and other things. We got really close to the capaberras and caimans. It was pretty cool. We also saw another river boat sunk and participate in the effort to rescue the products they were transporting. Mainly, wild tomatoes and plantains. One of the guys was jumping in and out of the water pulling stuff out.
After all that it took more then 2 hours to reach the lodge. We got a welcome drink. And got a briefing on jungle safety and an over view of where things are in the lodge and we were sent on our way.
We are to meet back at the dinning room to do a briefing for our night walk at 630. After the briefing we will have supper then do the night walk.
The rooms are half a bungalow but no electricity but they do have water and a candle so it isn't all bad. The sounds of the wild are great.
After we broke and dropped our stuff in the bungalow Lori hung out in the bungalow and I went for a nature walk down to the swimmers big hole with the English girls.
It's almost time to I should be going. But perhaps a ridiculous observation. I did not believe in he jungle would be nearly impossible he s hot. I have been sweating since I got here and the smell is starting to get bad but there is not much to be done about it. head back to the dinning room to start the festivities. S
