So today marks our first week finished in Provence and our 3rd of 5 weeks on the trip. It's amazing how quickly the trip has gone. Highlights of this week (according to Steve):
1. Kids finished first week at camp. The kids were very nervous at the start, being the only English kids in with the local French kids, but as the week went on it got a lot better. Sophia has made a friend named Julie. Julie even stuck up for Sophia when the other kids were making fun of the way Sophia spoke French (not the "true" French way). When I picked up Dominic yesterday one of the girls ran up and gave him a big hug and kiss (Dominic's ways with the girls shine through in any country). Both kids are getting great exposure to French as well as seeing a different culture.
2. Steve & Jen got 4 days of great cycling in. This is the "selfish" (or should I say more selfish) part of the trip, where we stick our kids in camp for the day and hit the roads cycling. The highlight of the rides was climbing Mt Ventoux (which took about 2 hours): very tough climb, amazing views and scary descent. We also did a couple of great rides in the Alpines and Les Baux and a hilly ride around the Luberon mountains. We would finish each day of cycling by hanging around at the pool and drinking white wine (life is tough).
3. On our other "selfish" day (when we weren't cycling) we went to a local restaurant for an authentic Provencial meal. We had a great multi course meal (and of course a bottle of white wine) on a well shaded terace. Then of course it was back to the pool for our siesta.
4. The other highlight is simply the house we have rented here in Saint Remy. We have spend many hours just hanging out with the kids by the pool and had many great meals on the patio. We've gotten into a nice routine here that we could easily extend for the entire summer.

Memo It sounds too perfect of a life to have it ending in two weeks. Was going to ask how the kids enjoyed their week at camp, but it seems they did fine.
Neal Question for Sophia and Dominic: what kind of things did you do at camp? P.S. Very proud of both of you.
