Good morning from The Holiday Inn in Nogalas.
We meet Pepe and Memo at 8 am at the hotel. The girls with Mike as there escort went to Safeway for lunch supplies for everyone for our wait at the boarder. At 10am our convoy lead by Pepe arrived at the first of many stops for a successful boarder
Crossing 1st we needed to make it with the trucks trough the US boarder. This went so well all the trucks and paperwork where through in about 10 min.(wow). Now the next stop the Mexico Boarder. Truck #6 driven by Harm was the 1st to cross into the holding area then #1 Allen and then our Edson Fire truck also went in. As we waited at our many stops, which sometimes where just on the side of the road Murray and me started to shine up the truck ( Once a fireman always a fireman). Now that all the trucks where in the holding area and the bets were placed for the (how long do we sit at the boarder pool)the girls set up the lunch area. After Allen and Pepe had a bite they went to work to help get us on our way as quick as possible. I marvel at Pepe and Memo they are kind and patient and so thankful for all that there Canadian Rotary friends have done to make it this far. I have now experienced 1st hand how important it is to have them there as a partnering Rotary Club to help us with the boarder crossing.
With all the paperwork falling together one by one each truck got to leave the holding area ,next stop our Mexican Visa.. As all of us were now finished with our visa permits, the last of the trucks, the bus from Grande Prairie rolled up. Our official time announced by Allen for all trucks across the boarder was 2:28 pm for a total time of 4hours and 28 min. (not bad for a days work)! All the bets where checked and the winner was Harm with his time guess of 2:45pm.( congrats Harm). Hermisilo here we come (not).with such a short and successful day Pepe thought we should push on to
Obregon just a mere 500km away.
Tonight our Blog is being typed on the road as it is now 9:43pm and have not yet arrived in Obregon
So this is our last night on the road tomorrow we are Mazatlan bound .
We arrived safe and sound at the hotel at 11:00, we went out for a huge steak supper then to bed at around 1:00
