I am sitting in bed, it is cold and drizzling rain outside. I should be a bit melancholy, but I am in fact quite excited for the first time in a while. We finally have all the transport and accommodation booked. The trip is now solid.
38,640 kms flying, over 4,000 kms by land transport, 12 flights, 8 trains, 2 ferries, 8 youth hostels, 4 apartments and I expect a few "where the hell are we" taxi rescues.
The wonderful, and I reckon, stressed Alara at Student Travel finally sorted the overnight deluxe sleeper from Rovaniemi to Helsinki which means I could book the Baltic ferry to Tallinn, Estonia.
Chris, Darryl and I will cover 14 countries between us. Yes, a couple are stopovers, but we will leave the airports in 9 of these countries so there will be the odd selfie or 2.
Now for the clothes selection and packing. Also the nice part which is choosing what we want to see while we are taking selfies. Apart from unforeseen headaches, the worst of the planning is done.
So it's back to scouring the Lonely Planet Guides and organising the travel dollars and Krones and Euros and Rupiah.
