Winnie here!
I had work at 12 today, but I went it for an advanced Modern Jazz class at 11am. It wasn't what I was expecting because is France, Modern is actually more like Contemporary. I realised how stiff I've become, but I can still do the splits which is good. Definitely need to limber up some more though! The class was mainly plie and jump exercises but we started a dance at the end which was quite good. I don't think I'll go back though, I've enjoyed other classes much more.
At 12 I thought I had REP, so I went to Character 1 to find out where it was, but I actually was doing sets until 5pm and then I had REP, so I was Suzy in Park 2. The queue for Character 1 was really long so I didn't find out who I was until after 12, and then costuming was really busy. When I eventually asked for my costume, they said I had to come back in five minutes because they needed to put the hoops in my dress. I was supposed to be ready at 12.30pm but I don't think I was actually ready until 12.45pm, but my traffic hadn't gone so I was ok. It turned out our first set was 101ed (cancelled) because of the heavy rain and snow - it kept switching between the two - so we went to the breakroom. I was feeling really ill and not in the mood to entertain people, and my feet were freezing. I had tow warmers in my shoes but they weren't working, I also had handwarmers in my gloves - they definitely were working. They started to burn during my set as I had them against bare skin and you're not meant to. It was ok when I wasn't with anyone as the gloves are big for me so I could move my hands away from the warmers, but signing autographs was really painful! I have red bits on my hands now so I've learn my lesson.
After the first set we moved to the Sulley breakroom and found out that our next set had been 101ed as well, so we played games and chatted for quite a long time. Our next set was 20 minutes long, but my bloomers were way too big (they fitted last week so I have definitely lost weight or my bloomers were bigger), and they fell down to my knees. I tried to tell one of the ACCs with hand gestures, but he just said 'ohh are going to try on Cinderella's slipper Suzy?' so I kind of failed with my mime there. Whilst I was posing for a photo and looking for my next guest, I saw two teenage boys who must have been about 17, who were talking in a sly way and looking at me. Before I had a chance to think they bombarded me and hugged me really tight so I couldn't move. I tried to get out but they were gripping really hard and it felt like one of them was trying to undo my costume at the back. The ACCs weren't even looking so nobody came to help, and even the parents of the children waiting for a turn couldn't get the boys to get off of me. I really had the urge to scream 'GO AWAY!!' but that wouldn't have been very ladylike of me, and it is also against the rules. I really hate unruly teenagers - those boys needed to be accompanied by an adult if they were going to piss people off all day. By the time they got off of me it was the end of the set and loads of kids had missed a chance to meet me, so I was feeling pretty annoyed at those boys.
It was then lunchtime, so I got changed and put some make up on and headed to Imaginations where I had a huge plate of veg and pasta for 70 cents. I was craving chocolate afterwards though so I had a Kinder Bueno.
The REP was for Winnie the Pooh, and some other people had it for Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet. Each float in DOUD is divided into two, and Winnie and friends share a float with Toy Story. It was quick to learn as there are no DOUD showstops at the moment, and we learnt it in 40 minutes. It is to a mixture of the parade main music (Just Like We Dreamed It), You've Got a Friend in Me from Toy Story (in French...Je Suis Ton Amis), and Winnie the Pooh music, with some speech from some of the characters like Buzz, Winnie and Piglet. It's quite easy but there are a couple of dancey steps in it which I think Pooh will look funny doing. When we had learnt it I thought we were going to be told to wait until the end of our shift and clock out, but the guy teaching us asked if we wanted to learn any other parts which was really cool, as obviously all of us want to learn at least one part where we don't have to wear a character head! He was going to teach us Can Can girl with the Pinnochio float, but one girl already knew it, so he taught us Court Dancers instead. Court Dancers are in Fanti and wear 1700's style grey wigs with tiaras, and dresses with lights on which flash with silver boots, so it is quite a cool costume. You dance with a male partner in a courtly fashion so most of us had to learn without a partner as there were only two boys and about 12 or more girls.
We learnt about half of the choreography, and then the people who were doing Court Dancer on Fanti tonight came in from next door and showed us the routine as they were doing their mise en place (rehearsal just before the parade). There are two separate showstop routines to learn so we didn't have time to finish it which was a shame, as it would have been really exciting to be approved for that. We had one last practice of Winnie and then we were told that we had all been approved, so as of now I am eligible to do Winnie on DOUD! I have REP on Friday and another one next Monday or Tuesday, so I'm looking forward to finding out what they are for.
I'm home now and freezing in my room. Some of us have been doing 8 Minute Abs every day, which is a YouTube vid of some cheesy guy from 1994 wearing lycra and doing an ab workout whilst saying motivational things. I can actually feel it working so I'm going to stick to it - that's what I'm off to do now.
3 days until my family and Ed come - I'm so excited!
Au revoir! xxx
