Day 10: 8:30 am departure bound for Florence, via the Leaning Tower of Pisa. We drove through the coastline of the French-Italy border, which was spectacular! As we were on the motorway situated in top of cliffs and overlooking the coast, dotted by farms (fruit plantations) and homes on endless rolling green hills.
Of course, we miss the turnoff for the service station they've been trying to spot for the last half hour. Stupid Davo. Has there been one day where things have gone smoothly??
Not to worry. We groove along to the songs, have lunch then head to Pisa around 3:30pm for the token 'leaning' shots of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. pretty cool structure and exactly as I'd imagined it to be!
We hop on the bus again at 5pm and arrive at the Florence campsite at 7:30pm. It was very cute community campsite situated on green hills with many families, it's own bar, nightclub, supermarket, 3 restaurants, swimming pool, tennis court. Only 2 to a cabin so although tiny it was comfortable.
Dinner was very awesome Italian being pasta and pizza on the terrace with a cool light breeze on a balmy summer's night. Simply perfect!!
Had our fair share of Amarro Montenegro shots and red chianti vino.
A bit of drama occurred after dinner when Luke raised concerns from some people on the bus re Dave's driving (running some red lights yesterday; and seemingly appearing drunk and sudden stops and turns). Dave got quite heated and was saying he would quit straight away as he didn't want to drive people who don't want to be driven by him and who are going to be unhappy. Luke dealt with the situation well and tried to calm Dave down. All this conversation occurred outside our cabin so we got alot of goss! Drama indeed.
