OVERLAND THROUGH AFRICA

Iringa, Tanzania

Tuesday 19 February 2008

We headed west on our way to Malawi on one of the best roads we have travelled in Tanzania. Unfortunately just out of town it turned out to be just as dangerous as the rest of the roads as we were held up for an hour following a serious accident involving a lorry which had run off the road.

Iringa is set on a bluff at 1600 meters overlooking a river and was a lot cooler with much less humidity which made it possible to get a decent nights sleep once again. We camped at Riverside Camp for 2 nights where they seem to have had bad rains in the last few days as lots of ground is flooded and the river has burst its banks in many areas. We will move off tomorrow on the road to Malawi.
