Good news... It's stopped raining!! Yes, the clouds have slowly dwindled away, and the sun is coming out to play . Although it's still on the cool side, it's not 'stick your tongue to the pole' cold that it has been. The weather was a little bit iffy this morning though, so we decided to have a lazy day, and took a drive down to the coast, towards Geelong and Queenscliffe. It was an hour and a half drive, but through some beautiful rural country that looked just like Ireland... or what I imagine Ireland would look like, since I've never been there... or it's what Ireland should look like, cause that's what they show in the tourist brochures... Anyway, it was green, and there were cows, and rainbows... and, um, leprechauns? Ok, ok, I've gone too far...
Today was one of our 'research and development', educational, 'satisfy the taxman', dodgy, business related trips to explore other BIG4 parks, so we could claim our entir trip on our next tax return. We had always wanted to see BIG4 Beacon Resort first hand, in Queenscliffe, and also, BIG4 Bellarine, which is the newest caravan park in Australia built from scratch. Both parks blew us away, but since I recognise that most of you reading this Blog don't give a damn about caravan parks like we do, I won't go into all the detail. Suffice to say, that we thought we knew most of what there was to know about this industry, and consider ourselves to be expert enough, to be relatively difficult to impress. Both properties impressed us immensely. Bellarine, being brand new and large scale, and built from scratch, have done everything properly the first time around. Everything looked and felt brand new, and there's lots of room to move, and lots of room for growth. Even more beneficial for us however, was Beacon Resort, which has been an icon park for decades. We learnt more here in one afternoon, than we ever expected, and Jo's phone went flat from photos. (Don't worry, they're not all going on the Blog)...
We then drove home to Ballarat, and the boys had a swim in the indoor spa pool ($10 for half an hour), and now we're about to sit down and have dinner, and an early night to bed... I must make an admission now, that I think I misjudged the park we're at, or judged it too harshly. We arrived in pouring rain, and it had been raining for 3 days solid. I didn't really get to see the park in flattering conditions until this afternoon, when the sun came out and the place has cleared up a bit. It has been lovely and quiet here, (I think we're close to the only people they've got in), there's certainly no other caravans in (they all headed north remember?), and we've really been enjoying ourselves. The only thing I stand by is that the ensuite unit has had its day, and needs serious work to upgrade. Other than that, it's lovely...
Gotta go, more food to eat..
Love ya's
