It's spring in Calgary and it's pouring... we have so much rain that Jason and I sometimes look out our window and say "it rains like in Switzerland".... which means it rains and rains and then rains some more... Sophie is such a Calgary girl that she got all confused when the first rain drops hit her head... she kept trying to swipe it away getting all annoyed with it "coming back" :-), a bit like a fly. She has since however fully embraced the wetness of the season and decked out in rainpants, rubber boots and a rain jacket we head out whatever the weather.
Sophie has been walking for four months now, has moved to the tip-toeing stage and just started saying the odd word:
- Paaaaaa or Daaaaaaa from the top of her lungs when she's calling Jason
- Ohoooooo - not really a word but used frequently when she drops things, throws things down, or generally when things go wrong
- Wow - when she's impressed, which happens often
- Bye bye
- that's about it, then there is a lot of grunting and pointing to say all the rest!
She's a regular at the corner store and has a lifetime right to all the grapes she wants to eat while at the store .... and she does take advantage of that....we barely walk in, she gives the employees a wave and heads straight over to where the grapes are kept... pointing up and grunting lots to anyone nearby.
She's getting better at not picking up the many cigarette butts and if she picks them up, she at least stopped sticking them in her mouth but takes them to the nearest garbage bin.
We have fun and are looking forward to Grossaetis visit in June.
