Day Two-American Museum of Natural History.
Today we planned to visit the American Museum of Natural History- best known for the 'Night at the Museum' movies!! Now I am not much of a movie buff or anything, but I do love this movie and must admit I was quite excited about seeing where the film was set as well as finding some of the characters from the film! We headed through Central Park for a 'morning stroll' to get to the museum and once we arrived we stopped to stare at the building for a while before going in. Beautiful building- a lot bigger than I thought and not situated the way I imagined from the movie!
It was massive, so much to see from the animals, dinosaur skeletons, various American exhibits and much more! We saw Dum Dum from the movie (the taking statue that's always wants gum!) as well as Rex the T Rex from the movie so that was really good!! We also saw an exhibition called dark universe which is set in a cinema type setting but the screen is on the ceiling! It was all about the making of the universe so there were beautiful stars flying all around you all the while. Was really cool to watch! Also went to a 3D shark exhibit in the IMAX all about the great whites, not only was it really good but I actually learnt something lol afterwards me Any & Owen went to spiders alive!! So had spiders from all over the world, omg the bird eating spider was as big as my hand!!! Was really interesting though!
In the evening we jumped on the subway and headed down to Times Square which was amazing! All the light and screens everywhere, you don't know where to look first!! There were cartoon characters wandering everywhere ready for pictures. Then a trip to Toys r us- had to be done!! They have their own Ferris wheel... Yeah. Enough said!! Lol not only that, they had a life size T. Rex from Jurassic Park, massive Lego statues just to name a few!! Got to say I didn't want to leave!! We went for dinner at Planet Hollywood, great American dinner, with massive portions!! After dinner we wandered around soaking up the atmosphere if Times Square and looking round some of the world famous shops. Annette, Greg and the kids headed home and me and Karen went in search of a Rum bar!! We found a really cute little place, just down one of the side streets in Times Square. Small little place, very cosy with a piano player. So me and Karen sat at the bar and decided to try a few different rums, letting the bartender decide for us!! After a few rums we actually found our way home and passed out....from tiredness...not the rum. of course!
