Day 339, 8 June 2013, San Francisco to Lima, Peru and on to Cuzco... And to fill in the time between chuck out (of hotel) and check in (at airport) we went to a show! Just a tiny pop-up play held at the Hotel Cartwright. There were only 20 seats in the room and at 1.58 pm the production manager came in to say the group of 18 that were expected had just cancelled. Wow. Seat of the pants stuff. We could have had a refund (boring!) or come back at 8 pm (not possible - will be airborne) or, and we went with this, they would perform it just for us! Gosh... cast of 2. Audience of 2. Brilliant stuff. Would have called it a draw, but they had a production manager too! Check out their website at www.deadcertainsf.com. Made it back to the hotel and into the car to the airport with a few minutes to spare and are enjoying the Cathay lounge right now... just heading to the gate... Peru, here we come! The story... DEAD CERTAIN is an "edge-of-your-seat" thriller returning from NYC -- where Retrovisionmedia NYC called this production "the sleeper of New York City's small theatre season to date". The play follows an out-of-work actor who is hired by a reclusive, theater-obsessed ex-dancer to privately act out a play she has written. The truth and illusion become almost inseparably entangled in this real life game of cat and mouse. The suspense builds layer upon layer as this taut psychological thriller gathers speed at an alarming rate towards a gripping climax.
