Joanna So great to see another update on life with you darling (I'm really surprised I've not seen it before - I thought I'd checked for a new one since May). You sound like a real local there in many ways now. I can well see why you're not ready to come back to the UK yet, so many exciting and exotic things you're enjoying there. Huge well done on the work situation, too - you're obviously making a big impact. Love you lots and miss you much xxx

barbara and neil Great blog as ever Nicola. Sounds like you're really making a difference. We're leaving our placement early, in the middle of next month, precicely because we feel we aren't making much of a difference. However we do love it in this bit of southern Tanzania so we're volunteering for a wonderful educational charity in the village for the last 3 months Details and photos on www.oldboma.wordpress.com Keep writing the blog and good luck with the next contract
re: And now the end is nearMum I am so proud of you and what you have achieved in the Gambia. When you first told me you had been offered a new job, I told you it had better not be overseas! But it was and we were sad you left and who would have thought that was a year ago. It makes us realise what a strong independent woman are and how well you survive in some difficult situations. We are proud to be your parents. xxx
re: And now the end is nearChris Canham So hard to believe its been a year! And so happy it all turned out well for you in the end. Missing you x

re: The Attack of the MangosMum Having no wine for a while will do you no harm. When I visit I will bring some for you xxx
re: The Attack of the MangosBarbara and Neil Nicola,or should I say Fatoumata, what wonderful and dreadful news all in the same blog. Personal life sounds great and you're remarkably cheerful about the rest. Makes our somewhat pampered life in Tanzania seem rather tame. Good idea about the book! Definitely a prize for the most unlikely VSO outcome of our group... Barbara and Neil.
re: My birthday burglaryJo R Just catching up on this and the previous blog; it is highly addictive reading which would indeed make a bestseller, and it's even better because our very own Nicola is the heroine. I'm sorry there has been so much burglary woven into the tale, and totally understand your anger - feel angry myself reading about the attitude towards the non-return of your speakers! - yet you seem to be handling the rough with the smooth really stoically. So glad to hear about all the cool, exciting stuff and work-related success too, plus romance of course. :-) So glad you're collecting really good people around you, only natural they want to bask in the presence of you. Love you babe, will look forward to the next instalment. XX
re: My birthday burglaryMum Wow! I really enjoy reading what you ahve been up too. You real need to write a book it would be a best seller. On another note you don't get married unless dad and I are there to see it and dad gives you away xxx
re: My birthday burglarychris canham Wow it sounds like you really have settled in now! I don't know how you sound so cheerful after all of this. Is this what they call "embedded into the culture"? I'm so happy you are finally enjoying it. Missing you. Chris x
