This morning everyone split off and did their own thing. Chris and I decided to head to the Catacombs and check out something a bit different in Paris. We waited in line for 2.5 hours but in the end worth it!! While waiting in line a lady joined the guy standing behind us with pastries and coffee. She said I tried to order you a mocha but they didn't know what I was talking about, then I asked for a latte and they still looked at me blankly so you have a hot chocolate. Chris and I overheard this and couldn't help but laugh. We got talking to them and they had just moved to London from Timaru and were in Paris for the weekend. We ended up joining together on our tour and enjoyed half a day with them!
Now if you hate small dark spaces and aren't keen on scary movies Catacombs are not not for you! Basically a few hundred years ago the cemetery in Paris was getting packed so they decided to dig up all the bones and place them in an underground tomb which used to be the old underground lime stone mines (Pip H you would've had a ball down here with the different rock formations!!) basically over 6,000,000 bodies were placed down there!!!
We then meet up with some of our tour group for a biking tour of Paris. We saw the Lurve, military museum, love lock bridge, Eiffel Tower and many more exciting sites of Paris finishing with a picnic dinner under the Eiffel Tower with the rest of our group. AND we ate frogs legs!!! Taste like chicken lol
Our group then split up and some of us went to a cabaret which was awesome. The boys weren't too sure at the start but after seeing the lack of costumes they pushed through the evening. We got out about 11pm and decided to hit up a cocktail bar around the corner from our hotel and see in Liam's 30th birthday. Needless to say there are a few sore heads on the bus to Switzerland this morning! - thankfully not Chris or I!!!
