The sun was up before 5am and so was the dog! I took her out for a quick wee and by the time we got back to the caravan Matty was awake so we both got dressed and had a long walk down at the beach, playing in the rock pools. The tide was out and the dog had a great time catching dead sea urchin balls that Matty threw for her. By the time we got back to the van Anna and Jonny were awake so while they played with the shells they had collected since yesterday, I sat and read in the sun. When Nick and Katharine woke up we had coffee and breakfast and then went back down to the beach for another walk. The wind had picked up a bit and the tide was on its way in but the kids ran off searching for shells so Nick and I were able to chat uninterrupted. When we got back to the van we began schoolwork and finished up just in time for lunch. Water is available here but it is not suitable for drinking, as it tastes quite salty. Nick has been using it to do the dishes so that our drinking water lasts for as long as possible and it's amazing the difference it has made - it also means he does all the washing up!! Once we were all cleaned up we went back down to the beach for the rest of the afternoon. The weather was magic and there were some good sized waves for the kids to use their boogie boards - even I caught a few! Nick kept a constant lookout for sharks and once the kids had had enough of the water they used their boogie boards to fly down the sand dunes. There is no phone or Internet reception up at the campsite but on the beach we could get an occasional phone signal - enough to check emails and texts. I tried to load the blog but reception wasn't good enough. A young couple camping near us came down to the beach and we ended up having a chat. They were completely out of water and had tried boiling the water at the camp but it didn't help, so once we got back to the van we gave them some of our water. There is an outdoor shower at the toilet block so Katharine and I washed our hair there while the others skipped a shower completely - it was cold water only but it was still warmer than the ocean! We had a coffee and then the kids played cards with Nick while I cooked dinner. Once we were all cleaned up we got into pj's and watched a bit of TV before bed. There are no clocks in the van and it gets pitch black early here so the three smaller ones were in bed by 7pm without any arguments as they thought it was 830pm!! We sat up for another hour with Katharine and then read until she fell asleep and by 930pm we were turning the light out too - what a life!!
