Los Angeles.. what can i say??
Celebrities, fat people, skinny people, burgers.. more burgers and a shed load of tramps.. more about this as i write the blog.
Obviously we had a huge flight of 10hr 20 mins.. Lucy wasn't looking forward to it but actually slept most of the way through it, but unfortunately Peter didn't sleep at all.
We had to queue to go through imigration for quite some time but when eventually getting through we jumped onto a shuttle bus which took us to Alamo (our car rental company.) Once sorting our car out we got told we could choose any car from row 4 ... a Black Chevolet.. Malibu LT with only 4000miles on the clock. Pretty good to say we were expecting a shed on wheels which might actually konk out on us through out our travels. We decided to hire a Sat Nav for america as its pretty tricky to get around, our first challenge was to find Banana bungalows which is where we were staying for 4 nights in LA.
Driving down Hollywood Blvd seemed amazing, we couldnt wait to walk down it and experience everything.. what a bloody difference that was. Walking down hollywood blvd was sooo different.. infact it was scruffy, full of tacky souvenir shops and homeless people begging for money. We even saw a man sat inside a bin eating a burger (As shown on photo.)
It was good seeing all the stars on the pavement and trying to find people we had actually heard off, obviously we didn't see everybody as its 4 miles long in total. We then walked to a spot where we could see the Hollywood sign, taking lots of pictures. After that we decided to call it a night.. i think the jet lag set in , making the both of us soo tired.
After breakfast the following morning we jumped in our car (Charlie) and set off driving around Sunset Blvd and through Beverly Hills.. My God are there some rich people with big houses and cars in Beverly Hills. We then drove to Santa Monica Beach but couldn't find anywhere to park, so we drove further down the road to Venice Beach.
Venice Beach = Not as nice as Santa Monica, full of weirdo's and basically not our scene.
That night we drove to the supermarket and bought a chicken salad..trying to be healthy than eating burgers all the time. Again we had another early night watching the pennies and still shattered.
4th JULY - INDEPENDENCE DAY!!!
The both of us expected it to be a little bit like a bank holiday in England but it was totally different.. everybody still went to work.. the traffic was horrendous and nowhere seemed to be celebrating it.. apart from a little old man stood on the street corner waving his american flags. Anyways we drove up to Laurel Canyon and into the hills to find some Celebrities houses.. we saw some pretty massive houses but we couldn't tell you who lived there apart from one, where a local cyclist rode passed shouting ' that's Charlie Sheens house' ..Not the most exciting person's house to be honest but heeey!!
Independence night was celebrated with 3 aussies, 4 english, 1 German and a french/ Swiss guy.. Ohhh not forgetting it was spent in an Irish pub.. can't get much more American than that can you?? haha!!! To end the night four of us went to Tommy's for an all american burger... bloody disgusting if you ask us!!! A cheeseburger drenched with chilli ( as in mince chilli and kidney beans.)
The following morning we drove out of LA which took absolutley ages.. on our way to San Diego...
