Well, first of all apologies to those of you who have already been following the birth of the book via social media, but ultimately an announcement should be made here on the Offexploring site because if it weren't for the blogs there wouldn't be a book.
So, this is to formally announce: To Mike and Liz, a healthy new arrival following an agonising wait. Author(s) and offspring doing well.
In the accompanying image, clockwise from top right: The Delivery Room; C-section (sorry!); The baby appears; Weighing time, and the new dad glowing with pride. Liz, the mother, was at work at the time, so missed all the action, but I coped.
You can find out all about the book here: www.againstthecurrent.uk, and even buy it! Or if you just want to order it ASAP without any fuss go to the publisher's site.
As most of you have been following the blogs we wrote while journeying through France in 2013 and 2014, you might be wondering, 'why would I bother buying the book? I already know what's in it!'
Good point. But the book contains a whole lot more of the backstory, many bits and pieces that didn't make it into the blogs, and it's all tied neatly together, rather than being a series of disjointed diary entries. You can also put it on your bookshelf! Also, as of writing this, nobody has yet reviewed it, so you could be the first! Imagine that!
Against the Current is also available as an eBook, instantly downloadable and, unlike the print version, it includes some images, though there are plenty of those on the website too (see above).
Thank you for following the adventure online, we appreciate your support and your comments over the months we were cruising and writing. Soon I will likely delete this site, as the book now supersedes it, but if I hadn't known there was an audience out there waiting for the next instalment I don't think I would ever have written anything at all. It was always nice to know you were there.
Bon courage, mes amis!
