This morning it sounds like sheepdog trials in the carpark with a lot of whistling and shouting, which turns out to be a gang of parking attendants cramming in cars of people visiting the market across the road. We are asked to reposition the vans and then get charged €1.10 to park.
We make or way into town across the second bridge and through narrow streets to Plaza Corredera, where we meet N+G. The large square is surrounded by pink and white arches and every window is hidden behind a green shutter. The colours are reflected on the wet paving stones.
After a short look around at the various restaurants we choose one and go inside. We order a bottle of Rioja and get a menu. The menu arrives with a plate of risotto and four forks for us to nibble on whie we decide. Local dishes include egg-plant with honey, patatas bravas and prawn skewers. For mains we choose chicken, pork and paella. When we finish we are given glasses of the regional wine, Montilla, on the house.
It's a drizzly walk back to the vans, and although the market has gone and the carpark is empty the shepherds are still prowling. Early evening the traffic builds and the whistling and waving starts again, this time for a football match in the stadium beside us. Kick off is 19:15 and Cordoba beat Majorca 3-1. Byy 22:00 everyone has gone and we settle down for a rainy night.
