Before the sun woke up the temperature was only 19C and it is feeling much fresher this morning. We get up at Sunday speed and have very leisurely morning.
A bit after midday Ali assembles her bike and we trundle off to the lake. It's a very different atmosphere today with families and groups setting up tables and chairs for picnics. There are fewer people on the beach, but more joggers and cyclists.
This is a terrific recreational area; as well as the lake and BBQs there are other amenities like a fenced in BMX circuit, wooden picnic tables and adventure playgrounds with a concrete-pipe maze, climbing frames and large clusters of rocks to clamber on. All these picnics look so inviting Ali cycles back, makes up a nosebag and, not for the first Sunday on this trip, does her meals on wheels stunt to a picturesque
location. Thankfully there is a strong cooling breeze and it is a cooler 26C meaning our white wine doesn't warm up too quickly.
By the time we wander to the beach there are plenty of swimmers and sunbathers, but all a bit more serene than yesterday.
Re-entering the site by the bar there seems to be an unwritten custom that means it would be improper to go through without buying a drink, so we do. We are enjoying our peaceful, refreshing half of shandy, when Essex family come rolling in, moving tables and chairs, folding umbrellas and generally shahtin' loudly abaht aah good vay are at evryfink. It's like EastEnders without Pat goin' mad! They turned up last night with a five-bed en-suite mock canvas tudor mansion on a 4 door pick up SUV and odds on they'll be as red as lobsters by Tuesday. Note to self: look up 'tosser' in French dictionary.
We're still chuckling when we get back to the van and sit under the awning enjoying the breeze.
Later, as it's Sunday, Ali does roast pork for dinner which we eat sitting outside.
