Yesterday was uneventful with the morning spent cleaning and sorting out the Nissan and caravan, putting everything back in it's place. It took forever but at last it was done so Angie and l decided to head into Atherton and do a few jobs and also treat ourselves to lunch at a cafe. We felt so odd sitting on this couch watching people going about their day seeing we'd just spent four and a half weeks in the middle of nowhere in mostly isolation. Surprisingly taking done adjusting to. Anyway after we took our time, hanging out in air conditioned shops, we headed back to camp to brace the heat and have a swim. The girls had had a great day swimming and using Angie and Rods kayak. Angie and Rod's friend Tanya and her two kids, Connor and Jordan, turned up later on the evening. Just in time for steak, lamb chops and roast veggies for tea that l cooked in the camp oven for everyone. It was delicious!!!! So loving this camp fire cooking, enjoying my new confidence in our new living style. After tea l felt a bit crap so headed off to bed.
Next morning woke up feeling a bit ordinary, sore throat and tired! Bloody alcohol has caught up and think my body is telling me something. Anyway, had an awesome breaky of bacon and egg muffins that Tanya cooked for us all. I sat around while everyone enjoyed bumbing around. The girls had fallen in love with Connor and Jordan and they all played well together seeing the age difference (they were teenagers). They kayaked, swam and played totem tennis together. Sweet kids! Anyway, we had another first for lunch, Asian lamb and salad rice paper rolls, absolutely delicious!!! Will definately be making these again, Boo and Meg loved them! After lunch the boys went into town and we decided to make scones in the camp oven. So woth no wood and no boys it was time for me to gear up the chainsaw. Believe it or not, this was again a first. Felt so good that l achieved it and cut up this log all by myself! The scones were awesome, another thing that will be added to my recipe book. (Frosty they were the lemonade scones and your right, will never go back this recipe rocks!).
In the afternoon the clouds began to roll in and get darker then the first lightening struck. A storm was to be our show for the night with all of us huddling under a tarp and watching the lightening followed by this cracking loud thunder which at first frightened Meg but then she got over it thankfully. At first we all loved this light show and rain but after a few hours we were wishing it would pass thru, instead of the storm circling us! Angie still cooked a delicious apricot chicken casserole over the fire in the rain for us all. We played some charades which was fun and hilarious before settling to bed. Hopefully the rain will go away for tomorrow.....
