Hey All,
Once again I'm back at blogging, but today it's from a little café near the house in which I'm living. I decided that reading the blog might be more interesting for everyone if I broke it down into the areas I've been and go. This entry will be about the office of the Beyond Study Abroad program and Veritas University. My typical day has me getting to class at about 745 for the 8am class. So far, we have been in 5 different classrooms for our 4-hr sessions in 4 days. I'm in a class of 12 with 11 other "chicas" joining me. They're from all over the country and range in age between 19-23ish. The professor's name is María Soledad Urbina Vargas (Soledad). I'm in the intermediate 1 class that deals a lot with comprehension and fluency. We work in class until 10, and then take a 30-minute break. Then we resume and then work till 12.
After class, I take a bus to the office. The office has a brown façade that's barred up. Through the door, there's a concrete driveway that leads to an open area in which there's a basketball halfcourt. Next to the court, there's a two-story fitness area, weights on the bottom and plyometrics on the top story. You can look out onto the court from the upstairs. On the other side of the court, there's a bathroom and stairwell that leads to the offices upstairs. There's a couple common rooms, and a kitchenette. This is where all of the program members do their homework and take a break in between workouts. I have training every day at 2pm with other athletes and a basketball individual workout at 1230. Josh, the program director and coach, works me out for basketball. There's a separate training coach, Bryant Perkins, that trains the athletes. We did our maximums yesterday.
I hope all who are reading are doing well and I look forward with talking more with you all. As always, please feel free to leave comments and messages.
