I finally arrived in bangkok after what seemed like days of travelling - exhausting was an understatement! Only forgot a couple of things - a matching pair of flip flops - yep I bought an odd pair with me, and also forgot all my maps that I made notes on!!! Although thanks to mum and Fiona this will be sorted out through my own personal delivery service to koh tao - see you soon Fi and Andy :)
My hotel is directly on Khoasan rd, for those of you that have been here you will know that it is a bit lively to say the least! I wasn't due to be staying directly on Khoasan, but a knackered air con unit in my booked hotel meant i needed to move - have to say though it was probably a good thing! It's been great!
I met up with Bex and Mike when I arrived which was great, then we spent the day looking around at various places, we had a couple of mad tuk tuk drivers drive us to a few places - all I will say is you will never get me driving in bangkok - London is nothing in comparison of madness on the roads! We spent most of the journey clinging on for dear life - great fun!
We visited the reclining bhudda which was the first temple I've ever been in, it was incredible..... A few pictures to follow.....
And then to New Year's Eve.........one word.....AWESOME! We had a lovely long dinner and then headed to Khoasan rd for midnight - it was a bit like Ibiza x100.
Such an amazing atmosphere!
Bex and Mike left on the 1st of Jan, and I was to have the first real non travelling day on my own, a little daunting to say the least! Determined to go and explore I made my way to the Siam centre for a bit of shopping. This place was something else - very impressive! Should have really taken some pictures - but the brain wasnt really in gear especially as I was so hot and didnt have my first bit of food till 4pm - note to self - need to remember to eat!!
Day 2 on my own and I am feeling much better, amazing what one night of decent sleep does for you! Today was skating day so I took myself off via tuk tuk to Lumphini for a little skate and it was only a little skate as it was soooooo hot! Only managed an hour, then it was time to make my way to the airport avoiding being rippped off by the taxi drivers to dump my skates in storage for a month.
Tomorrow I join my first tour which heads to northern Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and cambodia.........more on that to follow later....
I am settling in well to the whole thing - just taking a bit of getting used to - such a change to what I'm used to - but it's all good!
And happy new year to everyone, hope you had a fab one!
