Awake far too early - hate the jet in the first few days. Thankfully with good internet access i kept myself amused until a respectable 6am. Shower block for ablutions and caught behind a bus load of middle aged Germans. Complimentary breakfast ( or is that included) in the hotel so topped up - how could I be hungry after all I'd eaten yesterday! A long day ahead - need to get away. Checked out facilities and a definite maybe for our last night too. Onto the interstate with Samantha set up for Maumee Bay State Park with Indiana Dunes as a via point. Indian Dunes was amazing . not what I was expecting. The visitor centre showed a 1.5 mile trail across the 3 highest dunes. How difficult could it be. 1.5 miles = 25 minutes in my world. After a stroll along the waters edge we picked up the trail Waliking up hill on soft sand is SERIOUSLY difficult. At the top we took the soft option and headed back to the car park. Back on our way. 200 odd miles later (and more $'s than I care to count in tolls) we arrived at Maumee state park campground. On the way in we had to slow down for a family of raccoons to cross the road. And a deer crossing in front of a jogger. Take a look around, find a site you like and come back the park ranger said. We didin't expect to have so much choice.. Settled on a site with no one around - the whole park can only have been 25% occupied. All the plots were really large with electric hookups, picnic tables and fire rings. Got our selves set up and the fire alight. Steak & Ribs with BBQ potatoes, onions and peppers. That was 1 fantastic steak! Fell into bed - a couple of drinks should help sort out the sleeping patterns
