Greetings from the fair north. I just arrived safely after a 5 hour flight, of which I remember roughly 20 minutes. I like to think each traveler gets one gift, maybe two. Jana can read most maps, I can read none, I got lost on the way to baggage claim, buy I can sleep on any mode of transportation. I also make friends with strangers and understand a great many languages quickly, but the sleeping one is undoubtedly the best gift.
I was worried about the flight after reading awful comments about WOW, the new discount airline, but it was great, fast, friendly, cheap, as long as you follow the luggage rules and bring your own entertainment and sustenance.
This morning I had a minor banking issue with the ATM not reading one debit card, the pin not working on the other and the third limiting my withdrawal more than planned. but my lodging, transport and activities are paid for already so I was OK with just getting some cash for food.
The required Icelandic breakfast is skyr. It's what Greek yogurt should be. Creamy, protein rich, tastes amazing and is worth the hype. A breakfast worth wasting the in an airport over. I landed at 5:00 am so after a meander through duty free to consider my options for the trip home, I fought with the ATM, retrieved my loyal pack and found some lemor skyr. O have another hour or so to kill before I catch a shuttle to the Blue Lagoon, famous for being a balmy 87 degrees year round, despite the surrounding freezing air. They say the siloca loaded warm water it great for you skin so we will see what happens.
