This morning we left Galway early to tour and sing at Kylemore Abby. Kylemore Abby is about a 2 hour bus ride outside of Dublin. It is known for being a place of escape and rest for nuns during WWI, and then after that became an all-girls boarding school. The school was in existence until 2010 and now is available for tours.
We arrived and walked the footpaths to the gardens, toured the drawing room and dining room of the Abby and then sang at the chapel on the grounds. We had a great crowd, and actually it ended up being standing room only for a majority of the show. Unfortunately, our soprano section is slowly dwindling as everyone seems to be getting sick! I haven't yet, keeping my fingers crossed.
That night we took our bus back to Galway and had one more concert. This concert was a benefit for suicide prevention. It was completely packed in the hold historic Irish church. We actually shared our performance with two local musicians, one playing trombone and the other playing the piano. We had his some traffic earlier that day so we were scrambling a bit to get there on time... And a few mishaps happened but luckily our director Russell was good about making the audience laugh and keep them comfortable with the imperfections.
