Scott organised a 4 hr walking tour for today. Tim Stewart was our guide and we met him at 10.00 at the White House Visitor Centre. The visitor centre itself was very informative. Security was very tight which may have been because of the girocopter landing on the west lawn of the Capitol Building the previous day. Anyway he took us around the White House, WW2 memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Lincoln Memorial and the Korean Memorial. Then Tim took us down to see the Cherry blossoms around the tidal basin. Tim knew lots of stuff but I thought he talked a little too much I was in information overload. Scott on the other hand thought it was perfect. My favourite place was the Lincoln Memorial where we saw the plaque that sits where Martin Luther King gave his I have a dream speech. Unfortunately the reflecting pool was empty due to work being done on it. We then all went our own ways Scott and Danos to the Holocaust Museum which they said was a very emotional experience. Di, Wenners, Gerry and Trevor went back to the Whitehouse and Liz and I headed home. We met up and had dinner at a lovely Italian place. Relatively early to bed- ready for New York tomorrow.
