I'm nearing the end of my stay with Chris and Jess at liberty growers in KatiKati...and I will be sad to say goodbye for sure. This has been an amazing piece of my trip that I'm so glad to have been given the chance to do! Thank you Niamh Sheehan for putting me in touch with this awesome twosome! I have learned a lot - discovered some new plants I hadn't known about, how everything is grown and picked, what's best for each plant and what the market goers of NZ like best! I have been lucky enough to have been served some of the best meals of my life and to have hopefully learned how I might recreate some of these when I return! Easy ones first! I have been immersed in some cool tunes daily and watched some cool shows too. I have been inspired by Chris and Jess's creativity, passion and approach to life. I most definitely have experienced a quality of life unknown to most of us back home. The markets opened my eyes to the importance of buying local produce and the superior quality that comes with it. Having worked on the farm I can now vouch for this fact! This week a wonderful French couple, Sarah and Quentin, came to help out too. It has been great spending time with these guys also - playing cards, practicing a little French and climbing mount maunganui together. This week has been very chilled due to the extra help so I've had time to do a bit of cycling and finish my third book (some of you will be amazed if you know how slow I read!). Sunday I leave for Napier with Chris's mam who is driving me and putting me up for the few days I'm there. How unbelievably generous and kind are kiwis, no questions asked! Napier shall be my artsy stop on the trip, it's buildings were destroyed by an earth quake early twentieth century I think (don't quote me) and the city was rebuilt Art Deco style which I'm quite excited to see. So onwards I go...
