We got picked up at 8am from our resort for the James Bond Tour, we got on a longtail boat and this was where we met Ben from Buckingham. We got chatting to him, he was finishing his trip and was making his way home to the UK. The longtail boat took us to Krabi Pier then a scooter tuk tuk transferred us to a tour operator desk where we waited for the minibus to pick us up to begin the James Bond Tour. The minibus took us to a different pier where we boarded a unique type of longtail boat. This was a much bigger boat than a traditional longtail and had a larger engine. The journey to the James Bond Island was beautiful and picturesque, with limestone cliffs seen at a far distant. When we arrived at the James Bond Island, we were given 40 minutes to look around. It was very busy with many stalls selling jewellery and souvenirs.
We learnt that the locals call the famous landmark, 'nail island'. After seeing this, we went to a different island where we went on a canoe with a guide. The canoe guide took us through a famous cave on the island which was fantastic to see. We then continued on into the 'Mangrove Forest', this was a dense forest with short trees growing out of the sea. We were very lucky with the guide we had on the canoe as he literally took us into the forest and also through very low caves where we all had to lay down flat on our back to get through which was great. We saw that other canoes just went round the forest. When we got through the cave in the canoe, we were in a very small but gorgeous lagoon with misty jade colour sea and the sun was shining down through the peak into the lagoon, it was stunning! We both thoroughly enjoyed this part of the tour.
Next on the agenda was visiting the 'Floating Village' where we had lunch (included with the tour). This was a delicious set menu where the food was cooked fresh. They gave us fried chicken drumsticks with sweet chilli dip, Tom yum soup which was nice and spicy, fried vegetables and steamed rice. After lunch we strolled around the village browsing the stalls. When our time had finished at the Floating Village, we went back on the longtail boat to head back to the pier. The minibus then took us to a Thai Buddhist temple, this was inside 'Monkey Cave' where there were lots of monkeys. The main focal point of this temple was a golden reclining Buddha. We explored the temple before setting off to see the waterfall.
When we got to the waterfall, it began to rain, so we only got to see the smaller waterfall.
The minibus took us back to Railay beach, we arrived at 6.45pm where the tide was very far out. To our surprise they had arranged a 'tractor taxi' to take us ashore, this was an amusing experience for us as we have not seen anything like it plus everyone on the tractor taxi was laughing and enjoying it.
For dinner we went to a small local Thai restaurant where we thought we would be able to get some good Thai curry. We both ordered yellow curry with chicken and to our dismay, this was the worse curry we have had as they were made with too much coconut milk. For dessert we ordered mango sticky rice to share, the portion was massive and we were unable to finish it, despite it being very tasty. This definitely made up for the bad curry.
After dinner we went to the 'Hot Rock Climbing' shop to book rock climbing for tomorrow, which cost 800 THB each, not a bad price at all. We then walked to West Railay Beach and found a spot to sit down. Jay managed to see some shooting stars which was cool.
