Hi All,
We hope you all had excellent holidays and are not too much bothered by the very cold winter you are enduring in Europe. Our Christmas was definitely different than usual. Without family and friends and in shorts and t-shirts it's not easy to get in the mood. But Frank Sinatra and the good Christmas meal did help ;o) After Christmas Sylvie's birthday in Auckland was really nice and the dinner at the 360˚ turning restaurant on top of the Skytower was also a great way to say goodbye to New Zealand. Kiwi country is definitely a place we want to visit again. The nature is really astounding, the people are very relaxed and friendly and the Maori culture is fascinating.
We then left for Australia because we didn't want to miss out on the famous New Year's Eve fireworks in Sydney! We had a very good time there with Martijn and Aantink with whom we shared a luxurious apartment. The fireworks at Sydney Harbour Bridge were as expected, truly spectacular. Apart from New Year's Eve, we had some very nice days checking out Sydney. Martijn already knew Sydney, so he showed us the nice spots at Bondi Beach and Manly. We then spent another luxurious night this time at the Hilton (thanks again Disney colleagues!) before we left for a week on the Bounty island of New Caledonia.
In New Caledonia we stayed with our friends Bouchra, Marco and their two kids at their very cool place. Two other friends of theirs were also there, so we had a great 'friends get together' week. Just a few words to illustrate the week: BBQ, swimming pool, Champagne, blue lagoons, white sand, lobster, Nemo, sailing, camping on the beach, snorkeling, and lots of sun block and good fun… Well it's good we only stayed a week because we might have gotten used to this nice lazy mode ;-) Too little time and too much to explore, so back to travelling mode!
Now we are flying back to Sydney for 3 weeks of 'Down Under' fun, so see you at the next blog!
