On Sunday morning we got up on Long beach Resort to another wonderful day. We had breakfast and then quickly changed for a church visit. Our guide to the village with the church called for us and we started walking to a village 2 mins away… and walked through it… and carried on walking and walking for about 45 mins! Through mud and bushes. We signed up to go to church and got a free trek out of it! We arrived in a bigger village where everyone we met said Bula, and we arrived at the church which was beautiful. The service was just under an hour, we didn't understand any of it as it was in fijian, but the singing was amazing everyone harmonised. After church we relaxed and swam in the sea for a bit before lunch, and then got our ferry in the afternoon to Barefoot resort.
When we arrived at the island we were greeted with chilled coconuts mmm…... well Rachel was mine was warm. We were then shown our room which was a small hut. The shared showers and toilets were outside which was an experience! We had a relax on the beach for a bit then did some more jewellery making out of coconuts. We then tried out the outdoor showers and went to watch the sunset which was beautiful. We then enjoyed dinner - 3 courses and delicious. We had fish for the main which must've been good as Rachel ate it! After dinner, one of the workers announced that day's chief shell holder and gave them this funny shell necklace to wear. We then spent the evening drinking wine and catching up on the net.
The next day we enjoyed a delicious breakfast (best food in this place) then went for a snorkel on sunrise beach and saw fabulous coral and fish. We then snorkelled off sunset beach which was also pretty good. We then hired a kayak and paddled round the island in an hour before lunch - delicious curry.
Afterwards we relaxed on the beach and did some swimming in the beautiful sea. In the afternoon we also did some weaving with one of the guys and tried to make a basket thing. I decided then to then have one last snorkel on sunrise beach and saw a massive sting ray which was cool. We then got ourselves ready for dinner and watched sunset again. Dinner was good mmm another 3 course dinner. After dinner we all played a dodgy balloon game. Our team beat Rachel's and we won a snorkel trip each for the next day. Poor Rachel didn't win. The new shell chief was then announced and Rachel won to wear the shell for the night for playing so well in the game hehe. They told her 'with great power comes great responsibility'. We then chilled for the rest of the night with some drinks chatting to other fellow travellers and toasting Granda's 70th birthday, Happy 70th Granda.
