Day 34 Friday 25th July
Smalley's Beach, Cape Hillsborough NP
There was no rain overnight and no dew this morning, so the canvas was nice and dry...BUT we didn't have to pack up anyway!!
After two travelling days it was nice to remain in one place! We have visited this area before so felt no need to get into the car and go off to explore. We have had a very relaxing day, reading on the beach, walking on the beach, and generally not doing too much!
We were visited this morning by a couple of curlews, (one shown in the photo), and also a lace monitor. We also saw a couple of wallabies bound off into the bush as we approached!
When the tide goes out here it goes a long way and exposes a beach strewn with lots of shells, and then mud flats. The tide was coming in when I went to the beach at sunrise and was high at around 9 am.
There are 11 individual camp sites here and each one is relatively far away from the other. The ranger came around this morning to check that everyone had the correct permit.
We had sunset drinks and nibbles on the beach, once again the sky was beautiful.
The weather has been lovely, and it is so peaceful here. However, we must move on tomorrow!
