Day 38 Tuesday 29th July
Evans Head to Home (575km)
It was very cold last night, mainly because of the wind chill.
We were packed up by our usual 8am. Our drive today took us along the far-north and then mid-north coast of NSW. This area is known for its rivers, forests and fabulous beaches. We drove through large areas of banana plantations, and also lots of roadworks!! The Pacific Highway has a notorious reputation for accidents. The roadworks are much-needed to improve not only the safety of this road, but also traffic flow, since in peak holiday periods there are significant traffic jams. Some sections of the highway have already been up-graded, which made for hassle-free driving.
We had a couple of stops along the way, mainly to stretch our legs and have coffee or lunch.
We arrived home at about 3.30pm, after travelling around 8,500km, mainly in the Queensland Outback.
We have had a fabulous time, but will be home for a little while now, until we are 'off exploring ', once again!
