Another stinking hot day of lining up at Disneyland. Luckily, the park is so gorgeous that the heat takes a back seat. Today we grabbed our map and began crossing off everything as we did it to make sure that we did it all!! The day involved more princess lines, lots of ride lines and plenty of water fun.
We paddled canoes around the river, Sienna sitting behind me ensured that I would be cool when we got back!! We rode a raft across to pirate island to explore the caves and rickety bridges and we also took a cruise along the jungle river where our guide politely asked Sienna (again in her Queen Elsa dress) to not freeze the river during our cruise. Sienna thought that was pretty cool.
We crossed Aurora and Jasmine off our princess list as well as Tinkerbell. While waiting in line for Tinkerbell we began chatting to the lady in front of us who happened to be a teacher. She teaches at a 'virtual school' which sounded a little like our school of the air but is aimed at homeschooled children who are expected to take part in a certain number of teacher led sessions each week via the computer. It sounded quite interesting and caught the attention of the lady behind us who was also a teacher. Both ladies were very surprised and interested when I began explaining our slice of heaven - Koolunga Primary. They had never heard of such small schools and were quite keen to ask questions about how we do things. I of course told them that we were all totally awesome!!!
As we crossed rides and experiences off our map it became clear that we were simply not going to make it over to California Adventure Park again today and so the decision was made to utilise the third day of our ticket and continue to work our way through the Disneyland map.
In the afternoon we decided to snag a spot ready for the parade and Wess found a bench right in front of the Disney castle. We left him there guarding our prime real estate while the girls and I crossed more rides off our map. We eventually made it back to Wess right before the parade started and our view was excellent!! After the parade it was clear that folks were settling in already for good fireworks vantage points so we decided to hold on to our bench and this time I snapped up the chance to sit while Wess continued our map crossing quest.
A family spread their belongings along the gutter in front of me and the lady who was left to guard their spot came and sat with me while we both waited. It turns out that she works in a school office and her husband is a principal.....it seems that schoolie folks seem to magnetically meet. We chatted about her family who visit Disneyland every two years and she explained that as her children are now 19 and 21 it will probably just be her and hubby next time!! She was also extremely interested in our little school.
By this time the people sitting in front of me on the ground were about 10 deep and me sitting alone on a park bench was attracting many questions and some pushy attempts at invasion. I breathed a big sigh of relief when Wess and the girls eventually showed up. The fireworks were gorgeous and watching them light up the sky over the Disney castle was magical. We ended up standing on our seat as the sitting crowd all stood and our view was amazing.
We crossed a few more rides off our map and then headed off for an earlier night, only quarter to twelve and a forty five minute drive home!!! I don't know how the girls are surviving, we have had fifteen hour days with almost all standing and walking.....I'm stuffed!!!
