These last few days have gone by way too fast! We had our final exams on Thursday, a few short answer questions for our management class and an oral and written exam in French class. We got to do a few more things in Paris (finally saw the Eiffel tower lit up yayyy!) and the 14th was Bastille day, a celebration to honor the French Republic! We got up super early to get into Paris and see the parade! Soldiers and tanks filled the streets and the parade began with planes flying overhead, some streaking the sky with red, white, and blue for the French flag. The parade was different from what we all expected; there wasn't any music or anybody who was dressed up or spirited but it was still very cool to see. The best part, by far, was the firework show at night! We all gathered in Champ d'Mars and had a perfect view of the Eiffel tower! A disco ball hung from the middle of the tower in honor of this year's theme, disco and 70's. Music started playing as the tower lit up and fireworks erupted overtaking the sky and surrounding the tower in bright colors. Everyone was dancing and singing to the music and the display was amazing! The show lasted for about an hour, the longest firework show I've ever seen and every second was incredible, like the finales in American firework shows the whole entire time. Although the show was spectacular, the night was bittersweet as Tori and I eventually had to say our goodbyes. This trip was truly an extraordinary experience, definitely the best one of my life so far. I learned so much, not only about French culture but life in countries all over the world. I am so thankful for every day I got to spend in this program and all the places and things I saw and people I met. I developed friendships I will always remember and memories I will never forget. I truly have gained a whole new perspective on our world and am even more eager to see and experience more of it! What is bankruptcy? Woops. But it is now my goal to learn about and see even more of France and all the countries I met such incredible people from. Barbados 2013 for our reunion, I'm ready!!!
