We made our way to the river again this morning to join another coach tour this time to an old sugar plantation called Laura's Plantation.
The trip there was interesting passing through some swamp areas. We had a very interesting guide called Brian who was a distant relative of Laura whose story it was, they were Creole people. It was fascinating we saw the main house and also the buildings the slaves used to live in. The sugarfields and banana plants. Laura had once been the owner of the plantation but she didn't agree with the slavery and sold the property it had been in her family for many years. She eventually wrote a book about her life. The family who bought the property from Laura lived in the property until the 1970's and the last slaves moved from their houses in 1977.
We were dropped off near our hotel after a very interesting day.
