Tut tut tut "what Skippy, little Jimmy has fallen down the well. You drive the ute back to the ranch and pick up a rope and steaks and I'll collect some wood to make a bbq". Tut tut tut "ok Skippy your right little Jimmy likes shrimp you better also call the bush rescue in case we need help"
30+ hours and counting without sleep which does funny things to your state of mind. We are now in St Kilda in Melbourne. We checked in early and went shopping to stock up the larder in our apartment. Put the washing on then went out for lunch. What a place this is: think fading Victorian seaside town complete with wooden roller coaster on the sea front. Just like Whitley Bay really. As we walked around we noted quite a few abandoned sofas, chairs and mattresses. Despite the random fly tipping the locals appear very friendly although it's all hipsters worried that middle age might be catching.
Weather best described as bloody freezing. We left Saigon a sunny 32degrees and arrived Melbourne a wet and windy 12 degrees. Brrrrr. Appears to be an unseasonal low as tomorrow is set for 25 degrees and rising - we can't wait.
Culture shock crossing the road. We found ourselves wandering across Vietnamese style instead of waiting for the green man. Then found ourselves walking in the middle of the road before we remembered that the pavements are for walking on not motorcycle repairs. Not good when the trams run down the middle of the roads.
Interesting area: 49% bars, 49% cake shops, 2% sex shops. Not sure where to start with a night out.
Visited a couple of bars for happy hour but by 8pm we were knacked. Finished the night in the supermarket buying fish fingers, buns, tomato sauce and a bottle of wine. Early night ready for tomorrow.
