What a day, got to have a little sleep in as my train to Milan left at 8:30, I quickly packed all my stuff into my backpack (we were advised not to bring suitcases as we will have to carry them around one day or something) and then I was off, it was freeeeeezing cold this morning and will continue to be as cold (if not colder) for the next few days, first thing we did when we arrived in the station was wait. We waited for about 40minutes for the other students arriving from different parts of Italy, we then were given an hour of free time and went for lunch and around to the stations shops. Afterwards we walked from the station to the hostel we are staying in, the hostel is in central Florence. As Florence is a relatively small city we can get everywhere we need to go by walking. The city is so gorgeous and clean and just amazing. I have only been here for a few hours and I love it!! We did a tour of a castle and the man taking us for the tour was dressed as a painter from the 16th century and was pretending to be a citizen of that time. He asked the girls why we were wearing pants and basically told us that we were 'ladies only wore clothes that showed off their figures if they were trying to cell their bodies' (he was acting from the time period but I still thought it was unnecessary and sexist to say that to us, also because majority of the group are girls) one of the girls fired back at him though and said 'I am not going to take criticism from someone who is wearing that' as in the time period they wore these werid 'penis protector' things that were to 'show off their masculinity'. Then we did a tour of the surrounding piazza and a UNESCO world heritage church. It was dark and cold by the time we were doing this tour and the Church was closing so we had to exit. After we got free time again and I went to have a hot tea to warm me up and also me and some others found a carousel so we decided we wanted to go on that! I haven't been on a carousel in forever and it was really fun! We regrouped and went for dinner, it was pasta and then meat with potatoes.
