We also took a trip to the Mekong Delta, boarding a boat at My Tho for a tour of the surrounding islands. On the first island we walked through the jungle-like
vegetation to find a restaurant by the water where we enjoyed a delicious sea-food lunch followed by a horse and cart ride through the countryside. We then saw some honey-bees, had honey tea with sugar-coated nuts and got to hold a huge snake!

We moved on to 'Coconut Island' where we tasted sweets and wine made from coconut and checked out the many other souvenirs that they manufacture from the shells. On the final island we got to try a selection of local fruit while we were entertained with local folk music. In between the the scenery from the boat was stunning and we had fresh coconut juice on the way back - it was a fantastic day out.
