Food Glorious Food.
Well, we didn't make it out to the floating market today, I was too tired and Chris's cough was bad this morning. So we had a long lay in then spent the day eating out and watching tv.
We walked around the shops for a while, Chris split his shorts yesterday as he climbed onto the bicycle tuk tuk so he needed a new pair. Eventually he managed to find a really nice pair that actually fitted him for only £7!
For lunch we ate crocodile and pork ribs, and for dinner we ate poisonous snake and wild boar. So far our favourite meals in Asia have been in Vietnam. Chris wants us to work down a list of animals and sea food, trying something new every day. The table next to us had a small pot of boiling water on it, we watched as one of the staff came over to the table holding a plate covered up. Then quickly she slipped a plate of eels into the boiling water, still alive! The pot wobbled for a few second as the eels tried to escape! I watched in shock and the staff laughed at my face as I pulled a sad expression at them. Chris thought it was cool and said we are going to try eel soon.
On our way out we looked into the large tanks of fish, snakes and turtles! The manager told us the turtles are very expensive to eat. Just as we walked out another member of staff brought out whole baby pigs on sticks, ready to go on the barbecue. I think a vegetarian would have a heart attack if they stepped inside this restaurant.
So we have had a very lazy day today, we will try to go to the floating market tomorrow before leaving for Ho Chi Minh City at lunch.
